What Does the Annual Catholic Services Support?

 

 

The Annual Catholic Services Appeal provides full or partial funding for the following ministries and services:

Educational Services:

  • Ministries to campus students at Charleston, Edwardsville, and Millikin University
  • Resourses and Services to Directors/Coordinators of Religious Education
  • Education, formation, and Training for parish school of religion teachers
  • Catholic Schools assistance with planning, communications, development, personnel, and cirriculum
  • Bi-Annual Diocesan Adult Education Conference
  • Lay Ministry Program

Clergy Services and Seminarian Education:

  • Pastor, Parichial Vicar, Sacramental priest
  • Increase awareness of vocation in parishes, schools, and campuses
  • Education of seminarians
  • Support and encouragement to priests

Justice, Outreach, and Family Ministries:

  • Marriage Preperation
  • Natural Family Planning
  • Bereavement Ministry
  • Youth Retreats and Youth Ministry events
  • Social Concerns for those with special needs
  • Respect Life Ministry
  • Help from the Tribunal for those rebuilding their lives after a broken marriage

Family Services:

  • Support Training for computerized contribution, census, and financial reports
  • Assistance, support, and training to parishes in the areas of finance, payroll concerns, contracts, as well as building and contract issues.
  • Low interest loans to fund major projects
  • Maintaning a tax exemption status for federal, state, and local property taxes

Planning and Renewal Services:

  • Church Restoration Consultation
  • Provides services and resources for parishes in the areas of liturgy and Christian Initiation (RCIA)
  • Assistance with parish stewardship processes and with seminars
  • Pastoral planning for the parishes of the diocese
  • Provide service for creating an endowment in The Foundation for the People of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield in Illinois
  • Liturgical ministers workshop
  • Liturgy preperation

Central Pastoral Services:

  • Sacrament of Confirmation administered by the bishop
  • Day-to-day service to the diocese and management of the curia
  • Assistance in demographic studies, needs, analysis, and survey paridh staff concerns
  • Parish staff concerns
  • Conflict resolutions and policies

Other:

  • Memberships in Catholic Conference of Illinois, United States Conference, and Illinois Conference of Churches
  • Legal fees
