Catechesis
Catholic Schools
Teaching has an extraordinary moral depth and is one of man's most excellent and creative activities, for the teacher does not write on inanimate material, but on the very spirits of human beings.

The Catholic School on the Threshold of the Third Millennium, no. 19)

Catholic schools in the United States are built on a legacy of faith and charity. First established to educate the poor and those newly arrived to this country, Catholic schools now educate over 2 million students each year. We are proud to be a part of this rich tradition of education and formation.

Our schools are called to instill in young people a life of evangelization, participation in the sacraments, service to others, and prayer. They don’t just impart scholastic knowledge; they provide a life-long gift that prepares children to become successful and faith-filled citizens.

The Office for Catechesis offers resources and support to all the Catholic elementary and secondary schools in our diocese through curriculum development, ongoing formation opportunites, planning assistance, and other services. We pray that our principals, teachers, staff, students and school families will continue to remain committed to the Gospel and strengthened in their love of Christ.
