| Welcome to the Office for Communications |
|
"The media can be used to proclaim the gospel or to reduce it to silence in human hearts. As media become ever more intertwined with people's daily lives, they influence how people understand the meaning of life itself." Dawn of a New Era Pontifical Council for Social Communications 1992 The Office for Communications helps directors of the diocesan agencies carry out their mission of communicating the Gospel. The director of the Office for Communications is the official media spokesperson for the Diocese and handles public relations for the bishop and the diocese. In addition, the Office serves as a resource for the priests and parish employees of the diocese, offering training on how to handle interviews and consultation on contact with journalists. The Office for Communications conducts workshops on media and television viewing for parishes and church-related organizations. The Office produces Catholic News Weekly, a four-minute weekly radio program distributed to radio stations throughout the 28 counties of the Springfield Diocese. Director: Ms. Kathie Sass The Office for Communications is partially funded through The Annual Catholic Services Appeal |
