Monthly Prayer Vigils
End Abortions at Planned Parenthood in Springfield, Illinois

The letter of St. James proclaims that “the fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful.”

You are invited to pray for the end of abortion in Springfield, Illinois by peacefully praying outside of Planned Parenthood (1000 E. Washington) every First Saturday during their hours of operation, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Office of Social Concerns for the Catholic Diocese of Springfield in partnership with Springfield Right to Life are organizing an ecumenical prayer vigil for the end of abortion in our capitol city of Springfield, IL. In continuation with the prayer vigil outside of Planned Parenthood on Jan. 22, 2010, we ask each organization or parish to take ONE First Saturday each year and organize a 2 hour prayer vigil from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Feel free to divide the 2 hours into shifts, assigning volunteers to 1/2 hour or 1 hour shifts. We ask that a minimum of two people be present praying at any given time.

Kindly list your top 3 choices of dates ( #1 being your best choice, #2 your second choice, and #3 your third choice). We will do our best to grant you your requests.
