Seth Brown

"We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose" (Rom. 8:28). I think this one verse sums up every vocation, but especially one to the priesthood. I have witnessed again and again its truth in my own life, and how God has continually guided me ever closer to himself. I have traveled the hard road of conversion to the Catholic Church, and through the difficulties of college, work, discernment, and now life in Mundelein Seminary. Every day in the seminary I am challenged, but there is also an inexpressible joy found in following God's will-a joy not found anywhere else. I am so happy here, and I want to give the joy of knowing and following Jesus Christ to others. That is why I am here.

Following Christ in a vocation to priesthood is an awesome responsibility, but an even greater blessing. Adding the support of family, friends, parishes, and the Church, I doubt I have room for any more good things-but I will let God take care of that. I pray that God will sustain me, and that many more men will join me here, taking the words of Paul to heart-to accept Christ's purpose for their lives and to then see how "all things work for the good for those who love God".
