Biography
Being the first of three sons, I have traveled far from Ghana to the United States, and now call St. Mary in Paris home. Unlike my two brothers, I did not have the opportunity to go to school until I was twelve; then I started from first grade-unbelievable! During this time, I lived at the retreat center where my mother worked. The priest in-charge, the late Msgr. Sung, was phenomenal; he lived his life for the people. I was extremely inspired by his dedication to the priesthood and wanted to be like him. However, after High School, I went into the sciences, but quickly realized that the Lord had something else He wanted me to do.
Upon entering the seminary, I studied for the Society of African Missions (SMA). I later moved to Chicago for graduate studies, after which, through the inspiration of my Spiritual Director, I joined the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois. I believe that my biggest source of inspiration in following my vocation to the priesthood came from my association with priests and religious, as well as frequent reading of Scripture, the writings of the saints, and the writings of other holy men and women. My mother, also, has played a major role in inspiring me to pursue the priestly life, simply by being the single, most steadfast, and faithful Catholic presence throughout my life, especially in my childhood. Like the Apostles James and John (Mk 1:19-20), I have left home and family to answer the Lord's call unreservedly with all my mind and heart.
