The diocese of Springfield in Illinois has established a Roman Missal Curia Team to oversee preparation for the new missal in a helpful and orderly way. The members are: Rev. Richard Chiola, Ms. Nichol DelGiorno, Rev. Christopher House, Mr. Eliot Kapitan, Msgr. Carl Kemme, Msgr. David Lantz, Rev. Joseph Ring, and Mr. Jonathan Sullivan. This Curia Core Team is very concerned that all things promoting this preparation be consistent with the reform of the liturgy called for by the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, the universal and particular documents following upon that same constitution, and the scope and nature of the new English translation itself.
1. A Diocesan Training and Formation on the Roman Missal Calendar was first issued in September 2010. It is updated regularly. See the Training & Formation Calendar button in this section.
2. The USCCB issued a 12-Month Planning Calendar for 2011 as a supplement to the Parish Guide to Implementing the Roman Missal Third Edition. Additional suggestions are made each month for the diocese. All monthly issues are found on the 2011 Month-by-Month Planning Calendars button in this section.
3. The monthly handout, “We Give You Thanks and Praise”, began in January 2010. All issues are found on the We Give You Thanks and Praise Handouts button in this section.
4. A periodic letter for priests and parish life coordinators began in February 2010. All issues are found on the Priests and PLCs button in this section.
5. Many training and formation events are needed for ministers and faithful. See the Training and Formation Resources button in this section for guidance.
6. The Office for Worship and the Catechumenate and the Department of Catechetical Ministries is evaluating the vast number of publications and resources and the suitability of each for use by various groups. It is anticipated that there will be considerably more material than any parish can possibly use, review, or afford. See the Recommended Resources button for that information.
