Steubenville youth conferences are weekend conferences that are centered around the sacraments. The youth experience daily mass, adoration, and confession as well as hear several keynote presentations based on the theme of the year. Each weekend also has a mens and womens session along with several breakout sessions on different relevant topics. The conference is for teens in high school. Students who are entering 9th grade in the fall are more than welcome to attend the summer conferences. If you have any other questions, you can check out their website at www.franciscanyouth.com.
This year, Food Fast invites participants to hear the call to care for God’s creation, looking at how climate change affects the poor’s ability to secure food. Youth are also encouraged to join the U.S. bishop’s initiative Catholics Confront Global Poverty and become one of a million Catholics working to end global poverty and hunger. To learn more and to start planning your Food Fast, visit www.foodfast.org.
Deacon Patrick OToole is a Global Fellow for CRS in our diocese. He would be delighted to come to you parish and speak with the youth about Catholics Confronting Global Poverty, during their FOOD FAST, and use the opportunity to relate their fasting experience to that of our brothers and sisters in need overseas.
In addition he would be available to serve as a deacon at all of the Masses on the weekend before, during, or after the FOOD FAST, so that he can use the youth groups experience to invite the entire parish community to join in the cause of Confronting Global Poverty.
If you would like Deacon Patrick to come to your parish please provide him as much advance notice as possible, and contact him directly at 217-698-8500.
