Catechist Formation

The Office for Catechesis offers catechist formation credit for courses offered around the diocese. Classes are normally schedule in the fall and spring.  

The Catechist Formation Process handbook  outlines the formation requirements for catechists and Catholic school teachers. For more information, contact Chris Malmevik, director for catechesis, at .

The Office for Catechesis has also compiled a Book Study Guide  that qualify for credit in the formation process.

Catechist Formation Records   

Principals and parish catechetical leaders are responsible for maintaining (or appointing a designate to maintain) catechist formation records for all teachers and catechists. This training webinar demonstrates how to record and maintain these records (Access handouts here):

Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (University of Dayton)

The VLCFF offers convenient online courses for adult Catholics. Catechists may take individual courses for formation credit; completing the Certificate in Catechesis fulfills the requirements for the Advanced Level of formation.
