Diocesan campaign for justice and hope seeking grant applicants

SPRINGFIELD — The Catholic Diocese of Springfield in Illinois is offering Diocesan Campaign for Justice and Hope (DCJH) grant applications through a structured application process to organizations and projects that can demonstrate a focus on changing and improving the conditions of low-income people in the Springfield Diocese. Grantees will be held accountable for the funds they receive through routine reporting and they must maintain a diocesan or Catholic parish affiliation. Most grants will be awarded in the $1,000 to $5,000 range. DCJH will not fund organizations that engage in activities that conflict with Catholic teaching on human life and dignity, that promote abortion or euthanasia, undermine the family or tolerate racism or unjust discrimination. An annual parish collection is conducted the weekend before Thanksgiving to provide funding for this initiative. Like all Catholic ministries, the DCJH reaches out to the broader community, helping people who seek to overcome poverty without regard to their race, ethnicity or religion.

More information and/or applications are available online at www.dio.org/dcjh or by contacting the Office for Social Concerns and Respect for Life at 217-698or-8500 x 167 or email at .

Applications must be completed and returned no later than February 15, 2015. Decisions on funding and notifications will be made in May, 2015 and will be awarded in June 2015.

The Catholic Diocese of Springfield in Illinois is 129 parishes in 28 counties in central Illinois.
