Biennial DAEC scheduled Nov. 16-17 in Decatur

SPRINGFIELD — The 2014 Diocesan Adult Enrichment Conference (DAEC) will be held Nov. 16-17 at the Decatur Conference and Hotel, 4191 W. U.S. Highway 36 in Decatur, IL.
“This year our focus is ‘Growing Communities of Faith,’ a theme which speaks to Jesus’ parables of sowing and harvesting,” said Jonathan Sullivan, director, Office for Catechesis, Diocese of Springfield in Illinois. “The Church is called to sow the Word of God – to proclaim Christ in word and deed – in order that we might reap an abundant harvest of faith.”

The scheduled keynote speaker on November 16-17 is Sherry Weddell,co-founder of the Catherine of Siena Institute and author of Forming Intentional Disciples: The Path to Knowing and Following Jesus (OSV, 2012).The closing address on Nov. 17 will be delivered by Kathy Mears, Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Boston. “The DAEC is for all Catholic adults,” said Chris Malmevik, diocesan associate director, Office for Catechesis and chairperson of the event. “Sessions are tailored to anyone who desires continuing education, formation, catechesis and spiritual development in their Catholic faith.”
