Members of the Healing Community will Join Bishop Thomas John Paprocki for the Diocesan White Mass

SPRINGFIELD – Bishop Thomas John Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois will celebrate a White Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 East Lawrence, at 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016. All physicians and caregivers are welcome to share our Catholic expression of gratitude to thank God for the generous service by the members of the healing community in the Springfield Diocese.

A reception and program will immediately follow the Mass in the Cathedral Atrium. Father Myles Sheehan, SJ, will present “Caring for the Soul of Physicians and other Caregivers,” Father Sheehan is assistant to the Provincial for Senior Jesuits. He is a former physician with a certification in internal medicine and geriatrics. Fr. Sheehan maintained ministry in health care related areas which included caring for aged and infirmed Jesuits living in the province health care center and hosting “Aging Gracefully,” a ministry that addressed the needs of the elderly which aired on Catholic TV.

“We are blessed to have such excellent health care facilities in our Springfield diocese, said Bishop Paprocki. “Our White Mass honors all those who work in health care – from nurses and physicians to dietary staff and lab workers. This Mass isn’t just for Catholics. Health care workers from all faiths are welcome,” continued Bishop Paprocki.
